A lot has happened since my season ended after Canadian Championships at the end of March. I partied at the Telus WSSI festival with some pretty rad people, went sled skiing for Stan’s birthday, surfed and snorkeled in Hawaii with my sister Kristi, Stan, and a few turtles, I took two courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology, we had our first team dryland camp in Whistler, I hung out at Wal-Mart to raise funds for the Special Olympics, and expanded my limited knowledge of wine tasting at the Osoyoos Celebrity Wine Festival. All in all, it hasn’t been a bad start to the summer!
My back is well on its way to full recovery. I’ve been training at the Pinnacle Elite Athlete training facility and getting physio treatments in the same building at Pinnacle Physiotherapy with Joel. My buddy Jim Herperger with FH&P Lawyers has also been taking me to Glenmore crossfit every Friday morning at 6am. Along with lifting weights and doing lots of rehabilitation exercises, I have been running with our new dog Benny! I may be biased but I think he is the cutest little monster.
This is my last week here in Kelowna for the summer before heading to Whistler to continue my training with the rest of the Canada Ski Cross Team. We have a camp starting on the 3rd of July to the 15th. The first week is going to be up on the glacier, going back to the basics with our technique. The second part of the week is going to be grueling as we are going to be spending most of our days in the gym digging deep and pushing through. Can’t wait.
One last weekend of freedom before the camp is going to be spent down in Oregon on a little surf adventure. These pacific waters are going to be a bit colder than the pacific waters I got accustomed to in Hawaii.
