San Candido, Italy 2010

We arrived in San Candido, Italy after a short training camp, which took place in Hintertux, Austria and a Europa cup held at Benny Raich’s home mountain of Jergenz. Thank god I had the Europe cup to work out all the loose ends cause I was a mess. The course was fairly tame other than a kicker shooting us […]

A night and day to remember

The evening of November 10th marked the third fundraiser for Kristi Richard’s Supporting the Dream Legacy Fund. The night was filled with vodka martinis, fine cuisine, gambling, silent auctions, and a live auction. Together we raised over $11 000 which will directly benefit amateur athletes in the Okanagan. Thank you Big White Ski Resort for donating ski passes and […]

Snowing in Switzerland

My alarm goes off at 7:00 this morning to the sound of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros “Home”. Instant instinct is to press the snooze button. Three minutes later, its time to get up. Danie is already out of the room and heading to breakfast. I take a look outside and sigh at the thick clouds hovering around […]

Thanks to All

A few days at home and I feel like a superstar. With the promotions from Big White Ski Resort, and many of the local radio stations, I’m on top of the world again. Tuesday September 21st was action packed. Accompanied by Mr. Blair Ireland, we attended in-station live radio interviews with Q103 and Power104 starting at 7:40 am. From […]

Glad to golf, who would have thought?

I am glad to report that I had an amazing time this past Thursday and Friday at the Canadian Olympic Committee’s soiree’s and golf tournament. I was so nervous the night before the tournament that I barely got any sleep. Having only ever golfed the pitch n’ put in Stanley Park and the par three in Pemberton, I was […]

Heading Home for the Weekend

I’m setting my New Year’s resolution a little bit early this year in hopes that I will write in my blog more frequently than I have in the past. Since my last update, training has been going well and I have seen improvements in my skiing. At the end of August the team traveled to Argentina for a two […]

Big White’s on Board

My grandfather, Cliff Serwa, cofounded Big White Ski Resort in the 1960’s and as a result my life has been greatly influenced by the skiing community.

Even at a y

Back to basics

Last week the team got a kickstart into our dry land season by hosting a camp here in Whistler. It was the first time we have been together since March and the reunions were happily welcomed.

Monday started out with an anthropometry test and a bike test to measure the lactate levels in our blood. For the anthropometry test a […]

Embracing the off-season

Often, this is my favorite time of the year. The ski season is over, there is no mandatory dryland schedule, and for once we have the opportunity to live relatively normal lives. It is a time to celebrate the past, and look forward to the future.

I have had the opportunity to share my Olympic experience with a few groups […]
